Education :
I am an engineer and operations research professional currently based in Mumbai India. I have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineeringand a Master's in Industrial Engineering both from Purdue University USA. I did course-work for a Ph.D. at Cornell University USA then finished my dissertation and obtained a Ph.D. in Operations Research from North Carolina State University USA.

Industrial Experience : 
I have lived in the US for 19 years and worked there for over 10 years  with General Foods (now part of Kraft Foods) Surface Combustion (www.surfacecombustion.com) IBM (www.ibm.com) and Research Triangle Institute (www.rti.org). I have worked in India with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (www.tcs.com) for over 4 years and Tata Infotech (now merged into TCS) for 2 years. I set up Modi Electronics and Engineering Co. in Ambernath India a small-enterprise for the design and manufacture of electronic process control instrumentation --- remote-reading tank-level indicators alarms pump controllers and open-channel flow meters. I ran it for 20 years then sold if off to enter into the world of academics and management consultancy.

Academic Experience : 
I was Professor of Operations at S P Jain Institute Of Management and Research (SPJIMR) Mumbai (www.spjimr.org) for 5 years and at ICFAI Business School (IBS) Mumbai (www.ibs.org) for 2 years. Most recentlyI was Director-Research Consultancy and Corporate Training and Professor-Operations Management at Universal Business School Karjat India (www.universalbusinessschool.com).  At these institutions I have taught MBA level courses in Operations Management Quantitative Methods Total Quality Management Project Management Supply Chain Management and Business Strategy. I was faculty guide to a number of students for their summer internship projects and for their management research projects in industry. I was also awarded the national Devang Mehta “Best Professor In Operations Management” trophy for 2010.

Consultancy Experience : 
During my years with SPJIMR and IBS I undertook short consultancy and training assignments with several large corporates --- NRB Bearings - Thane NRB Bearings - Aurangabad Tata Motors - Pune Tata Motors - Lucknow Mahle Migma - Indore Miebach Logistics - Bangalore.

Professional Affilations : 
I have been a member of INFORMS (Institute For Operations Research and Management Science USA) and of ASQ (American Society for Quality) for last several years. I was chairman of ASQ Mumbai chapter for the year 2011-2012.
